Sean had a great soccer season. He led his team in goals and assists. In one of his games he scored 10 goals. It was after that game that his Dad and I talked to him about assists and how after you make a couple of goals you have to back down a little bit so that other kids can play too. Unfortunately, that talk seemed to take a little bit of the fire out of Sean. He started standing around a little more. However, he still scored a bunch of times each game and he started passing the ball more. In the game that I took pictures at, the boy in the red hat was playing pretty rough with Sean. The purple team was so frustrated because Sean's team was winning (lots - 0). So this kid targeted Sean as the reason why they were losing and was all over him; guarding, holding, pushing, kicking, etc. This tactic backfired a bit as it allowed the rest of Sean's team to score a number of times even with 2 goalies blocking the goals (they play with the littler pop up goals and aren't supposed to have a goalie at all, 2 goalies pretty much blocks the whole goal). It was a pretty hard game for Sean because of this kid. But it was good for him because he had to play smarter. And in the end he decided that the red hat kid was all over him because he thought Sean was the best player; so it made him feel good. It all worked out great!
