Natalia has been wanting dance class since last spring. You may remember an earlier post about Natalia's summer outfit of choice. It involved a mesh of soccer and dance clothes. Since she got the idea that she wanted to have dance classes, she has been saving up all the money that she finds. Every bit of spare change she has found on the sidewalk, on the floor, or in the couch has gone into her 'dance class money'. I thought at first it was a phase and she would forget about it after a little while. But she didn't. In fact anytime she wanted to play the piano or sing it was, "I'm practicing my dance class songs."
Due to this persistent fascination with dance class, one of goals for 2010 was to make sure she got some dance classes. Really, if she's willing to save up money and keep putting it aside for dance class, we can definitely help her achieve that goal. One of my running friends told me about the dance class her daughter is in and it sounded pretty good (45 min once a week for $24 a month) so I gave the dance lady a call. She had an opening this month and Natalia has finally started dance classes! She is so thrilled and thinks it is just wonderful! She repeats what the teacher says and tries to practice the moves at home. It is funny to hear and see dance class through a four year olds' filter.
After eight months of savings Natalia's 'dance class money' reached a grand total of .95 cents! It was mostly made up of pennies with a few nickels and dimes and one quarter.
