Brandon's Soccer Game

Brandon started his fall soccer season! He has advanced to that age in life in which he now gets to play 'position' soccer rather than 'swarm' soccer. It has been a bit of an adjustment for him, but he is starting to get it. It is so exciting to so those moments of brilliance, where he is playing soccer-soccer!

I really like this picture of goalie-Brandon kicking the ball. It's like he's a soccer super hero flying in to kick the ball. Or maybe a chinese martial arts warrior flying in to kick it and then bound off into the sky again. Looking at this picture you don't know what happens next but it sure looks like it will be impressive.

Continuing the goalie/martial arts warrior theme: first, Brandon came swooping in to kick the ball. Then he is on the ground watching his opponent soar over him and try to score. I'm sure Brandon is leaning back, getting ready to do a back flip kick to stop this goal. This has all the signs of a 'classic' soccer battle of good versus evil.

Brandon charges into the battle looking for an opening. He focuses on the ball and prepares himself to do whatever it takes to gain control of the ball and score. But wait a minute.... Did you think his opponents were other soccer warriors like himself? Well, you would be wrong. They are worse. They're GIRLS!

Brandon has to up his game and strengthen his insane martial arts skills. As he and a girl race for the ball he speeds up so that he can take control. Then when she manages to steal the ball he fights to regain control. Brandon doesn't back off and let her have the ball; he keeps trying for the ball until they end up tripping each other - I mean kicking each other 's feet in a martial arts way. Since they are both down on the ground I think that means that this particular battle is a draw.

Meanwhile, Brandon vows that next time they meet there will be a very different outcome in which he will win and the girls will be left in the dust. Next time....
