Sean turned 7! He is growing into a fine young man! He is a sweet and loving son. Lately, he has really started to help out. He notices something needs to be done and he goes and does it. He gets up on time in the morning and does his piano and scriptures without any promptings from us. There are definitely days where he makes being his parent an easy job. Some other interesting things about Sean. He had a buzz cut for his hair over the summer. We have been growing it out ever since. Just last week his hair got long enough to lay down instead of stick up. It was kind of funny to see. One day it was sticking up and the next it lay smooth and flat against his head. (In contrast Brandon's hair did the exact opposite. At this same point in time it started sticking up weird and he had to get his cut.) Sean is doing well in school. He is at a 2.5 grade level in math (at least in part, due to how closely he watches his brother and tries to emulate him. He wants to do the same math that Brandon is doing) and a 1.9 grade level in reading. Sean loves words and using them in sentences and works them into his conversations. He still says words funny sometimes. Like Hannah Montana is Hannah Mantana and 'nourish and strengthen our bodies' becomes 'egnourish and strengthen our bodies.' I mention this because it doesn't happen very often anymore and I'm kind of sad to see my little-ist boy growing up. Just one more short year and he will be old enough to be baptized.
For Sean's birthday he had a watermelon sherbet cake and a pumpkin sherbet cake, because he couldn't decide which sherbet was better and I was feeling ambitious that night. While Robert was lighting the candles Sean totally zoned in on one. He was completely mesmerized by the flame.Funny story about Sean. When we started singing Happy Birthday to him he blew out all the candles right off. We had to relight them so that he could blow them out again after the song was over.
For Sean's birthday activity we went over to the rec center and played wallyball. Or at least something like wallyball. We didn't play by any rules really, it was much more fun just trying to get the ball over and bouncing it off the walls. Hmmm, boys + balls + completely enclosed room = an awesome time! Seriously, no getting yelled at about the ball breaking anything, no chasing after the ball as it bounces down the street, and family togetherness. You really can't get a better activity than that.
